Vilnius - Lithuania
Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania.
Lithuania is the southern most country of the Baltics, bordering with Poland and Belorussia.
Lithuania is the largest of the three Baltic countries on both population and size.
Vilnius is the only inland capital of the three capitals and it has about 535 000 citizens.
Vilnius’ old town is on the UNESCO heritage list and the old town is not only the largest in Europe, but also the oldest.
Vilnius is has for the last 2-3 years seen an explosion in developments in the city in both cultural offers, “city scape”, high rises and taking on the the digital economy head on (with a global hub for blockchain and bitcoin). Vilnius is now an amazing combination of übercool and historic city with the most amazing sights, but also a very lively hipster culture, tech developments, modern architecture and more.
The city has always been the most laid-back city in the Baltics, with an almost mediterranean atmosphere at times.
Vilnius, we would claim, also has the best climate of its Baltic sisters.
The cultural scene is booming and with the October 2018 opening of the super modern and ultra sleek MO Museum in the Old Town (Modern Art Museum), the city really stepped up its cultural game tremendously.
We have said for 15 years already that Vilnius is the “best kept secret” in Europe.
That statement still holds true today in June 2019!
